Summary / Purpose At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. An Avionics Technician is a specialized professional within the aviation maintenance field responsible for inspecting, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing the electronic systems that support an aircraft’s operation, communication, navigation, and flight control. These systems include radar, GPS, autopilot, flight data recorders, weather radar, communication radios, transponders, and electronic flight instrument displays. Primary Responsibilities Diagnose and repair avionics components using test equipment and schematic diagrams. Diagnose Avionics malfunction down to the components level using equipment and schematic design. Install and calibrate communication, navigation, and flight control systems. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications. Perform software updates and configuration management on digital systems. Collaborate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) technicians to integrate avionics with other aircraft systems. Document maintenance actions, test results, and part replacements in accordance with regulatory and company procedures. Maintain knowledge of current avionics technologies and safety procedures.
